Update to Google Sites

If you work with a team, Google Sites is a great tool to improve communication and increase productivity. It allows you to organize your data in a user-friendly way. Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with other Google services, so you can easily add files directly from your Drive. Recently, Google made updates to Sites, and we are excited about it. At Efficient Small Business, we want to keep you up-to-date on the newest developments to improve your workflow.

The "New" Google Sites has been around for a few years, but it did not come with many features when it was first released (compared to "Classic" Sites). However, Google is steadily introducing new functionality and updates to make this platform more robust. Here are a few of the most recent updates.

Collapsible Text

It is now possible, to create a collapsible text element. This is ideal if you have a lot of information that you need to share, but you don't want to clutter your whole page.

Image Carousel

The new image carousel isn't a wildly innovative feature, but it is a very common element found on most websites. You can give your team a quick preview of things to come with this new feature.'

Buttons

One of our least favorite things about Sites was the "button". It was bland and not editable, but Google has addressed that by providing three different button options. The options are nothing spectacular, but they are a definite improvement.

Cloud Search

If you are a G Suite user, you can now add search capabilities to your Site. This is a nice feature that was included in "Classic" sites and finally made it's way to the "New" Sites. This feature will allow your team to quickly find what they need.

Version History

Many of Google's services (Docs, Sheets, Slides) allow you to go back to an old version of the document. For G Suite users, this functionality is coming to Sites. This may be the most exciting update for us. Not only can you go back and un-delete that a page, but you can see who has made updates to the Site.
